Our client, a growing clinical-stage medical device company based in Halifax, Canada, has developed a medical device for a novel injectable embolic therapy for minimally invasive treatment of multiple osteoarthritis (OA) indications including knee OA, hand OA, and others. The therapy is based on decades of pre-clinical and clinical research by company's co-founders and top physicians in the field.

The organization is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Halifax, NS, with hybrid schedule opportunities available.

Reporting to CEO, the Controller will play a key role in overseeing the organization's financial operations, taking ownership of full-cycle accounting while partnering with internal teams to ensure accurate, timely financial information. This is an opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional to make a meaningful impact, contribute to process improvements, and support the organization as it continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

- Manage full-cycle accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Maintain bookkeeping records, processes, and supporting documentation
- Prepare and issue customer invoices
- Run and oversee payroll
- Complete month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and government claims
- Support the preparation and submission of SR&ED; tax credit claims
- Provide documentation and support for external auditors, investors and Board Members
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to support business decisions

Experience & Attributes for Success:

- CPA designation is preferred, but not required
- Proven full-cycle accounting experience. Previous controller experience is preferred
- Proficiency with QuickBooks




- Experience with SR&ED; tax credits is required
- Previous experience in medtech or medical technology considered an asset
- Experience with Pay Works is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Positive, adaptable, and proactive approach, good communication skills
- Bright, capable, and quick to learn
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
