Job Summary The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing housekeeping and general maintenance activities at the Hospice Quinte Care Centre. This role ensures the facility is safe, clean, and operating efficiently to support the comfort and well-being of residents, families, staff, and visitors. This is a part-time permanent position that works weekends from 8am – 12:00 pm.

The ideal candidate should be committed to learning and complying with standards for healthcare facilities. This position is part of the collective bargaining unit and offers a weekend shift premium.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and perform daily housekeeping and maintenance tasks throughout the Care Centre.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection prevention standards required in a healthcare setting.
- Monitor building systems and equipment and coordinate repairs or service when beyond scope of practice (Ex. Electrical, HVAC etc).
- Support the upkeep of both interior and exterior areas of the property.
- Maintain an organized inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and maintenance materials.
- Assist other departments as needed to ensure optimal operation of the facility.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues or safety concerns.
- Participate in training and development related to healthcare facility standards.

· Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including the ability to carry out significant amounts of lifting and bending. · Open communication with the Operations Manager and Facilities Supervisor to report challenges or issues. Follow regulations as they pertain to housekeeping in a healthcare environment.

· Cleanliness of rooms and areas. Prevent the spread of infection through proper sanitation and IPAC.

· Deep cleaning of rooms as required and after maintenance repairs.

· Transfer supplies in a timely fashion (i.e., paper products).

· Safe effective use of equipment.





· Some physical upkeep of the grounds. Services for winter maintenance will be contracted out. Auto mowers and an irrigation system will maintain the lawns in the summer and may include the cutting of grass and flower bed maintenance. Some snow shoveling/salting may be required.

· Follow regular preventative maintenance schedules as directed. Ex. water and fridge temperature testing

· Adhere to and comply with all safety regulations when handling hazardous materials according to MSDS.

· Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.

Job Qualifications Education

· Successful completion Grade 12 High School graduate.

Experience

· 1-3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare/long-term care environment.

Physical Requirements

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Stand for extended periods of time.

· Reach above shoulder heights, below waist or lift as required to complete the job responsibilities.

· Proper lifting techniques.

· Must be able to lift raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This requirement occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

· Able to work on ladders.

· Must be able to balance, climb, crouch, grasp, kneel, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.

· Must be able to hear,



smell, feel and speak adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance and/or housekeeping.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to healthcare facility standards and regulations.
- Reliable, organized, and proactive with a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical tasks as required.

· Strong people skills with a focus on cooperative work style. · Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.

· Ability to work independently and with supervision.

· Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents.

· Ability to multi-task and set priorities with a sense of urgency to achieve goals.

· Proficiency working with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Have reliable transportation to the Hospice Quinte Care Centre (1244 Old Highway 2, Belleville – across from Bayside Secondary School).

Organizational Responsibilities

· Participates and contributes to encourage and support activities which promote effective team functioning throughout Hospice Quinte

· Participates in assigned Hospice Quinte activities, events, and committees as required

· Demonstrates appropriate boundaries with staff, volunteers, residents, and members of the community

· Attends meetings, conferences, and training as required

· Maintains confidentiality

· Accepts other duties as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50-$23.07 per hour
