Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Cargo and Ground Operations, the Manager, Dangerous Goods (DG) is responsible for ensuring that the company is compliant with dangerous goods regulations and legislations along with managing the company’s Building Maintenance program. The Manager, Dangerous Goods will work together with the Cargo Department and company managers to maintain DG compliance and facilitate company projects.

High level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communities Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Create and amend program policies and procedures as required

Work with Cargo department to develop and continually improve DG program associated online and in-person training

Facilitate training and educating employees on dangerous goods and ensure that training documentation is accurately maintained

Lead the provision of organizational communication regarding DGs

Manage SMS reports specific to DG incidents and work with the applicable managers as required

Maintain company list of general and company approved exemptions for Dangerous Goods carried by passengers for employee reference

Act as the point of contact for internal escalation from the DG Hotline or DG Experts email sources

Understand current legislation, codes of practice, bulletins and other industry best practices and recommendations





Liaise with regulatory agents regarding the company DG program and lead corrective actions associated with the DG program

Ensure that current publications and references are accessible for employees

Perform accident and incident investigations at the discretion of manager

Conduct random, targeted and process audits and Quality Control (QC) checks

Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported through the safety management system

Manage and provide oversight of the Building Maintenance Technicians

Maintain and analyze the Building Maintenance Reporting System for project completion and cost efficiency

Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System

Perform additional duties as assigned Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent

Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations

Minimum one year of direct DG experience implementing and promoting industry practices and policies within an aviation environment preferred

Knowledge of IATA-ICAO dangerous goods regulations

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Knowledge of aviation/airline products and services considered an asset

Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset Working Conditions Physically able to perform all listed job duties

Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role

Work performed primarily in an office environment

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephones

Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions.

Various shifts and at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline Methods and procedures described or implied in the job profile may be altered to accommodate employees.
