Description

We are currently seeking an Oracle Database Administrator with SQL experience to join our Information Technology Department. The successful incumbent will be providing day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring performance of the database.

What You Will Do

Strategy and Planning·

- Interact with Data Centre Operations/Systems Administration teams to ensure the proper Design, Implementation, deployment, Support and Administration of databases.
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for all databases in conjunction with stakeholders and department managers.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Work with application development team to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Experience with data process flowcharting and system documentation techniques.

Acquisition and Deployment

- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of databases.
- Document database design through data modeling, review design to ensure optimized data environments.
- Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.

Operational Management

- Planning, installation and configuration of MS-SQL and Oracle databases.
- Performance and general health / capacity monitoring and day-to-day database Administration duties.
- Do routine maintenance including database rebuilds/re-indexing/expansion and archiving.
- Troubleshoot SQL/Oracle database/server problems,



and assist in the resolution of application database problems.
- Backup and recovery of local and remote replicated databases. Provide enterprise-wide support for database storage and backup administration.
- Provide day-to-day support to production systems as assigned; involves weekend and after hours support on a rotating basis.
- Provide DBA support to development and implementation of projects as assigned, including doing installations, database loading, conversions, testing and other tasks.

Compliance

- Prepare change control documentation.
- Administer database security, establish security controls, and conduct audits.

Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Planning

- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of databases.

Requirements

Who You Are

- University degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of practical DBA experience.
- Experience with Oracle 12c (RAC, OEM, stored procedures & packages PL/SQL and sql script writing, SQL*Loader, RMAN, Replication & Standby databases, database re-build / de-fragment techniques, logical & physical backup / recovery techniques, performance tuning).
- Experience with unix scripting is a requirement
- Experience with MS-SQL MS-AS,



MS RS and SSIS is required
- Robust understanding of all database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers.
- Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.
- Good analytical, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Quick learner, with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with SAP HANA, Oracle ODA, SQL Sentry and BMC Control-M would be an asset.
- On-call rotation during evening and weekends is required
