Souris Valley Daycare is a licensed and government subsidized daycare center located in Oungre, SK. We are a non profit organization as well as a registered Canadian Charity! Our board was founded in July 2022, by a handful of directors who still serve on the board today.

After two years of hard work, fundraising, planning, building, receiving grants and generous donations, the center opened its doors in February of 2024. Currently, there are 22 kids from the ages of 12 months to 12 years of age who attend the center on both a full time and part time basis. Children who attend the center are from Oungre and several surrounding communities, including Tribune, Lake Alma and Torquay.

Position: Assistant Director

Position Reports To: SVDC Executive Director

Commitment: Permanent, Full Time. Full time is 30+ hours/week

Center Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm. SVDC is closed on all statutory holidays, which are paid days.

Base Wage: $24.12/hour Ministry Top Up*: $8.85/hour

Total Wage: $32.97/hour paid bi-weekly

*Wage top ups are not guaranteed and are offered based on the availability of the Ministry Wage Enhancement Grant.

Start Date: Immediate

Required Conditions of Employment:

· Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last 6 months

· Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification

· ECE I,



II or III Certification that is valid in Saskatchewan

· 18 years of age or older and legally entitled to work in Canada

Duties and Responsibilities of the role, including but not limited to:

· Assisting the SVDC Executive Director as required with daily operations of the center

· Fostering a positive environment by responding to the needs of each child, utilizing developmentally appropriate teaching and techniques

· Sharing the responsibility of planning, preparing and implementing programs and activities, including reading, storytelling, songs, art, dramatic play and physical activity

· Ensuring programs operate in compliance with childcare licensing standards

· Sharing the responsibility of maintaining the center and its equipment by cleaning, organizing, sanitizing and completing minor repairs

· Guiding and assisting children in the development of healthy eating, dressing and toiletry habits

· Establishing team-oriented relationships with children, coworkers and SVDC Board

· Providing guidance and leadership to the team in the absence of the Executive Director

· Developing and maintaining relationships and effective communication with parents/guardians

Pay: $18.00-$32.97 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
