About us:

We are a Canadian, student-run nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people through financial literacy education. Through creative educational programs, partnerships, and digital learning experiences, we equip youth with practical knowledge to make informed and confident financial decisions. Our work focuses on middle school to university aged students from coast-to-coast.

What's in it for you?

As a member of the Finance team, you will play a key role in leading budgeting and financial reporting for PennyDrops. This position involves managing reimbursement processes and overseeing investment tracking, giving you exposure to core areas of the organization's financial operations. By being a part of the PennyDrops Finance team you’ll be able to develop financial skills while working on areas that excite you most whether that's allocating funds for investment or creating financial reports.

Role overview:

We are looking for a Director of Finance to ensure the financial health, transparency and sustainability of PennyDrops by overseeing the organization’s finances, investments and reimbursement processes.

What you will do:

- Financial Monitoring & Reporting: Track, monitor, and report on the organization's financial position.

- Investment Tracking:



Monitor and report on the performance of PennyDrops’ investments.

- Reimbursement Oversight: Manage and execute the reimbursement process for all expenses incurred by National Team members, chapter executives, and mentors.

- Operational Development: Develop financial SOPs.

Qualifications we look for:

- Must be a current Canadian university student

- Any degree welcome, with strong interest in finance, accounting, economics or business.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

- Analytical Skills: Attention to detail and a strong affinity for working with numbers and financial data.

- Integrity and Responsibility: A high degree of trustworthiness and responsibility when handling organizational funds.

- Experience: Past experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance is a strong asset.

- Technical proficiency: Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets and other financial management tools.

- Curiosity: A desire to learn and teach is vital.

Role details:

- 8-10 hours of work per week is expected

- All work is remote, save for a few in person events throughout the year

- You will work with fellow university students across the country, in teams ranging from 4-12 people

- Opportunities for awards, in-person experiences, recognition, and post-university jobs are available
