Clinic (KVEC) is looking for full-time veterinarians to join our growing team. New graduates are welcome to apply! Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic is an accredited, full-service, 24-hour, 7-day-a-week small animal emergency hospital serving Peterborough, the Kawarthas, Northumberland, and surrounding communities.

Our highly qualified veterinary team provides compassionate, high-quality emergency care when pets need it most. Emergency medicine is one of the most exciting and rewarding areas of veterinary medicine, and whether you are an experienced ER veterinarian or a new graduate interested in exploring emergency medicine, you’ll have access to amazing mentorship and support to help you build your confidence and skills. Mentorship That Meets You Where You

Are We recognize that every veterinarian comes to emergency medicine with a different level of experience and confidence. Whether you’re a newer graduate, an experienced GP looking to transition into ER, or an emergency veterinarian wanting support while becoming familiar with a new hospital, our mentorship program is tailored to you. Depending on your experience, comfort level, and individual goals, your mentorship plan may include:



Dedicated shadow shifts with a senior emergency veterinarian before working independently, with the number and type of shifts tailored to your needs.

A gradual transition toward independent ER practice, rather than expecting you to manage a busy emergency caseload before you feel ready. On-call access to an experienced KVEC veterinarian for clinical questions and support once you begin working independently. Ongoing opportunities for case discussion, collaboration, and mentorship with experienced ER veterinarians.

Support in developing your skills and confidence in areas such as emergency surgery, critical patient management, diagnostic decision-making, client communication, and managing an ER caseload. A mentorship plan that can evolve as your confidence and experience grow because support shouldn’t suddenly disappear once your formal orientation is over. Our goal isn’t simply to get you onto the schedule.

We want to help you become comfortable, confident, and successful in emergency medicine, while making sure you always know that support is available when you need it.

The Prospect

As a Veterinarian with KVEC, you will: Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency medical care to small animal patients Work alongside a skilled and collaborative team of veterinarians and veterinary professionals Manage a diverse and compelling emergency caseload Develop your emergency medicine skills in a supportive environment Collaborate with referring veterinarians and pet owners to provide continuity of care Participate in a team culture that values communication, collaboration, and mutual support Continue building your knowledge and skills through mentorship and continuing education What We Offer Competitive hourly wage $120.00–$1800.00/hour,
