Engineering Technician- Full-Time, Permanent Role
Rate of Pay: Pay Band 5 $69,856.44 - $88,126.59
The County of Annapolis is looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Municipal Operations team! This is an opportunity to work amongst the breathtaking natural beauty of the Bay of Fundy shoreline and the lush Annapolis River, where you will be captivated by coastal communities, towns, village, historic properties and stunning parks that are the pride of our county. The Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting with the design and construction of designated municipal infrastructure and maintenance projects. The role also includes public engagement, working closely with residents, businesses, community groups, contractors, utilities, consultants, and internal departments to support project development and successful project implementation.
The Engineering
Technician is responsible for reviewing and approving engineering drawings, ensuring compliance.
Qualifications and Expectations
Education: Candidates must possess as a minimum, a diploma or undergraduate degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a similar educational program.
Certification: Certified Engineering Technology (CET) Certification is preferred.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a municipal public works or capital construction work environment planning and overseeing multiple infrastructure projects.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of civil engineering, construction, and project management principles and practices. Knowledge of the building code, fire code, and other Nova Scotia construction regulations are essential.
Skills: Fluency with AutoCAD and project management software is considered an asset.
Requirements: Candidates must obtain a criminal records check to work for the Municipality of the County of Annapolis.
Candidates must have a valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license. This position will occasionally require work outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends.

Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with external stakeholders, contractors, and internal personnel.
Attention to Detail: Ability to review documents, plans, and schedules to carefully avoid costly mistakes.
