About SHARC
SHARC Door Controls Inc. is an Edmonton-based commercial service company specializing in automatic pedestrian doors, electronic door hardware, and access control systems. We supply, install, service, and maintain automatic swing and sliding doors in hospitals, banks, shopping centres, multi-unit residential buildings, healthcare facilities, high-rises, and other commercial properties.

About the Role
We are hiring a full-time Field Service Technician to diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial automatic pedestrian doors throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving mechanical and electrical problems, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of quality service.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain automatic swing and sliding doors
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, sensor, activation, and control issues
- Complete preventative maintenance and safety-related inspections within your training and qualifications
- Work with commercial door hardware, electrified hardware, low-voltage wiring, and related access control components
- Explain findings and recommended work clearly and professionally to customers
- Complete digital work orders, service notes, photographs, and parts documentation
- Communicate job status, material needs, and follow-up requirements to the Service Manager
- Maintain assigned tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in an organized condition
- Follow safe work practices and site-specific safety requirements
- Support installations and project work when required
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely
- Ability to understand low-voltage wiring, schematics, or technical manuals
- Professional customer communication and dependable follow-through
- Ability to work independently in the field while contributing to a team
- Comfort using a mobile device or tablet for work orders and documentation
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and an acceptable driver’s abstract
- Ability to perform the physical duties of field-service work, including working from ladders while handling door equipment and parts, with reasonable accommodation where required
Relevant Experience Automatic-door experience is an asset, but it is not the only path into this role. We also welcome candidates with relevant experience in commercial door hardware, electrified hardware, access control, low-voltage electrical, locksmithing, glazing, gates, overhead doors, elevators, or other electromechanical field-service work. AAADM certification is an asset.

Work Location This is an on-the-road field position based from SHARC’s Edmonton facility. All work is performed at customer sites in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
