Fire Alarm Technician – Contract Arctic Project

AGI Enviroclean Ltd. is seeking a qualified CFAA-Certified Fire Alarm Technician for upcoming contracted work in the Canadian Arctic.

This is a temporary, project-based position anticipated to last approximately several months, with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements. As AGI Enviroclean Ltd. continues to expand its fire alarm and specialized services department, this contract may also lead to an opportunity for full-time employment in Ontario following completion of the Arctic assignment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems at a remote Arctic project location. This position requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards in challenging environmental conditions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Install fire alarm systems in accordance with approved blueprints, schematics, technical specifications and applicable requirements.
- Install and verify the proper placement and operation of fire alarm components, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, sensors, control panels, notification devices, wiring and power supplies.
- Conduct routine inspection and testing of fire alarm systems and components to verify proper operation and system functionality.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose fire alarm system malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment, electrical knowledge and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Perform required maintenance and repairs to fire alarm systems and associated components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation related to fire alarm systems and low-voltage installations.
- Work with low-voltage wiring, circuitry, sensors, detectors, control equipment and associated fire detection components.
- Use hand tools, power tools and specialized fire alarm testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Coordinate with construction personnel, project supervisors and other trades to integrate fire alarm work with overall project activities.
- Complete detailed documentation of inspections, testing, repairs, deficiencies, modifications and other work performed.
- Maintain accurate records required for project and compliance purposes.




- Identify system deficiencies and assist with determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Follow all applicable project-specific health and safety requirements, including procedures related to electrical hazards, remote work and low-temperature Arctic conditions.
- Maintain a professional and safety-focused approach while working in a remote project environment.

Required Qualifications
- Must hold a current CFAA Fire Alarm Technician certification.
- Demonstrated experience with the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, servicing, maintenance and/or installation of fire alarm systems.
- Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, components and testing procedures.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings and technical diagrams.
- Strong electrical background with knowledge of low-voltage wiring and circuitry used in fire detection and alarm systems.
- Familiarity with smoke detectors, heat detectors, sensors, control panels, notification devices and other fire alarm components.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools and specialized testing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve system deficiencies.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a project team.
- Willing and able to travel to and work in the Canadian Arctic for an extended assignment.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Must successfully complete required security screening and obtain the applicable security clearance before mobilization.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous construction experience involving fire alarm, electrical, low-voltage or mechanical systems.
- Previous experience working on government, institutional, industrial or large construction projects.
- Experience working in remote, northern or challenging environmental conditions.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Current WHMIS training.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.




- Working at Heights and other applicable construction or safety certifications.
- Experience preparing inspection, testing, deficiency and service documentation.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
