Job Summary

ROKPower is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead field construction activities on an upcoming high voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear GIS substation project. General Foreman encouraged to apply and negotiate salary upon hire.

The Foreman will supervise field crews, coordinate daily construction activities, and ensure the work meets project safety, quality, schedule, drawing, specification, and OEM requirements. The role requires proven leadership on high voltage substation projects and hands on knowledge of GIS installation and assembly.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise electricians, technicians, equipment operators, and subcontractors.
- Plan daily and weekly work with the Construction Manager and Site Superintendent.
- Conduct pre start meetings, toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analyses, and field level risk assessments.
- Assign labour, tools, equipment, and materials to meet project requirements.
- Supervise the installation and assembly of high voltage GIS equipment.
- Coordinate GIS bus installation, circuit breakers, disconnectors, grounding switches, CTs, VTs, cable terminations, control cabinets, and associated equipment.
- Ensure GIS work complies with OEM procedures, approved drawings, project specifications, and cleanliness controls.
- Coordinate with OEM representatives, engineering personnel, commissioning teams, and subcontractors.
- Monitor productivity, manpower, schedule progress, tools, equipment, and material availability.
- Review construction drawings, electrical schematics, specifications, work packages, and installation manuals.
- Ensure alignment checks, mechanical inspections, torque verification, and installation records are completed correctly.
- Oversee GIS gas handling activities, including vacuuming, filling, leak testing, and gas quality testing.
- Enforce project safety requirements, safe work procedures, environmental controls, Lockout Tagout, and temporary protective grounding requirements.
- Complete daily reports, timesheets, progress records, inspection documentation, and quantity tracking.
- Support quality inspections, deficiency management, punch list completion, and turnover documentation.
- Report safety, quality, schedule,



and resource risks to project management.
- Mentor crew members and maintain a professional, accountable, and safety focused work environment.

Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum [5 to 10] years of high voltage substation construction experience.
- Minimum [3 to 5] years of experience as a Foreman or General Foreman.
- Demonstrated experience supervising GIS installation and assembly crews.
- Experience with high voltage GIS systems at 115 kV, 138 kV, 145 kV, 230 kV, or above.
- Robust knowledge of substation construction, electrical equipment, protection and control systems, and commissioning interfaces.
- Ability to interpret issued for construction drawings, electrical schematics, cable schedules, specifications, OEM manuals, and construction work packages.
- Experience coordinating heavy lifts, equipment movement, rigging activities, and overhead crane operations.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, crew productivity, quality control, and project scheduling.
- Effective leadership, communication, organization, and problem solving skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Qualified candidates may be eligible to work in the United States under an applicable employer-sponsored (E-2) work authorization program, subject to individual eligibility and approval.
- Willingness to travel and work project schedules, overtime, weekends, or rotations as required.

Safety Training and Qualifications Candidates should hold current training or certification in the following areas where required by the client, site, or applicable state regulations.
- Mobile Elevating Work Platform MEWP EWP Aerial Lift operator training.
- Fall Protection and Working at Heights training.
- Rigging and Signalling training.
- Confined Space Entry and Monitor training.
- Overhead Bridge and Gantry Crane operator training.




- Lockout Tagout and hazardous energy control training.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System WHMIS training.
- Standard First Aid and CPR AED certification.
- Construction safety orientation required by the applicable jurisdiction or client.
- Qualified Electrical Worker training where applicable
- Supervisory safety training and Competent Person qualifications are considered assets.

Pay: $83.00-$90.00 per hour
