New North Fuels

Greater Sudbury

WHO WE ARE

Since 1994, New North Fuels has been keeping Northeastern Ontario warm and moving. As one of the largest heating oil and fuel distributors in the region, our teams deliver heating oil, fuels and lubricants to homes, businesses and industries from our offices in Sudbury, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Massey, and our bulk plant in Little Current. Our promise is simple: always there when you need us.

New North Fuels is part of PetroNor, a leading energy provider in Northern Quebec. PetroNor serves the road and air transportation, construction, forestry and mining sectors across Eeyou Istchee Baie-James and Abitibi-Témiscamingue, and counts Suncor Energy, owner of the Petro-Canada brand, among its shareholders. Together, we share one ambition: to be the leading essential energy provider for Northern Quebec and Ontario, driven by innovation, safety and social responsibility.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are writing an exciting new chapter, and our transportation operation is at the heart of it. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate the daily movement of our fuel delivery fleet and keep drivers, trucks, trailers, loads and customers aligned.

This is more than a traditional dispatch role. You will be a key player in building a stronger transportation operation: improving routing, maximizing fleet utilization, tightening communication and putting better processes in place. If you bring real trucking knowledge, sound judgment under pressure and the confidence to deal with a problem rather than wait for someone else to spot it, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.

You will be expected to know what is happening in the operation, not simply react to what has already happened.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Dispatch and route planning

- Dispatch and coordinate daily fuel deliveries across the Ontario operation
- Build efficient daily routes based on customer requirements, product availability, driver availability, truck capacity and geography
- Optimize B-train utilization and minimize unnecessary mileage, deadhead, wait time and downtime
- Coordinate emergency, priority and last-minute deliveries
- Know what the next shift looks like before it starts

Driver coordination and compliance

- Monitor drivers and deliveries throughout the day
- Maintain constant communication with drivers and provide clear, unambiguous instructions
- Monitor Hours of Service and ensure schedules remain compliant
- Ensure drivers understand their priorities and have the correct product and delivery information
- Ensure company safety policies and transportation regulations are followed

Fleet and equipment

- Track trucks and trailers and ensure equipment is available and properly allocated
- Coordinate maintenance, repairs, inspections and equipment downtime
- Communicate mechanical issues to management and maintenance personnel, and determine urgency
- Identify equipment that should be taken out of service

Product and inventory coordination

- Monitor bulk plant inventories and communicate product requirements
- Coordinate loading schedules and confirm drivers are carrying the right product

Customer service and operational improvement

- Identify potential delays or delivery problems before they become issues, and communicate early
- Assist with customer inquiries and resolve delivery issues professionally
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, delivery information and operational documentation
- Work closely with management to improve fleet utilization, routing processes and overall operating efficiency
- Participate in after-hours operational support when required

WHAT YOU BRING

Requirements

- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, fleet operations or a related industry
- Robust knowledge of trucking operations
- Excellent communication skills, with drivers and customers alike
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
- Strong computer skills, including email, Excel and dispatch or fleet software
- Ability to make decisions independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

Assets

- Fuel transportation experience
- B-train experience
- Experience dispatching Class 1 drivers
- Knowledge of Hours of Service requirements
- Experience with fleet tracking and GPS systems
- Experience with fuel delivery equipment
- Experience in mining, forestry, construction or industrial transportation
- Class AZ/1 driver's licence
- Bilingualism (English and French)

Mechanical knowledge (strong asset) A solid understanding of heavy truck and trailer operations is highly desirable, including B-train configurations, Class 1 trucks and heavy equipment, diesel engines, air brake and hydraulic systems, trailer systems,

basic electrical troubleshooting, pumps, meters and hoses, and daily inspections and preventative maintenance.

You do not need to be a licensed mechanic. You should be able to talk with a driver about a mechanical problem, understand the basics of what they are describing, judge the urgency and coordinate the right response.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR A professional who stays ahead of the fleet rather than chasing it. You know where the trucks are, what they are carrying and when they are expected back. You keep drivers clear on their priorities, you protect customer service by flagging problems early, and you keep equipment moving.

Breakdowns, weather, staffing gaps, changing customer requirements and product availability are all part of transportation. We are looking for someone who is proactive, accountable, calm under pressure and technically minded, who sees a problem and deals with it, and who is comfortable in an environment where priorities change quickly and follow-through is everything.

WHY JOIN US

Make a real impact: help shape our transportation operation during a pivotal period of growth.

Build the process: develop better dispatch, routing and communication practices rather than inherit them.

Grow with a northern leader: join a team rooted in Northern Ontario, backed by an energy network spanning two provinces.

Be heard: your ideas for doing things better will not just be welcomed; they will be put into action.

Compensation is competitive and based on experience and qualifications. Benefits and additional employment details will be discussed during the interview process.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.
