About Data for Good Edmonton

Data for Good Edmonton brings together volunteers to help nonprofits and community organizations make better decisions using actionable and insightful data. Our Projects Team helps support various data initiatives helping our community partners tell clear stories of their impact in the communities they serve.

Join us at Data for Good Edmonton as a volunteer leader, you will champion the next phase of our project effort.

Open Roles: GIS Project Lead (1 opening)

Time commitment: 3 to 5 hours per week (versatile) including weekly project meetings, technical implementation work and occasional stakeholder discussions.

Type: Volunteer, remote friendly with optional Edmonton Team meetups.

Reporting to: Project Team Lead

What you will do

- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate effectively with the Data for Good (DFG) team and external nonprofit organizations through meetings, email, and Discord.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet project milestones and timelines.
- Mentor junior analysts,



providing guidance, knowledge sharing, and hands-on technical support when required.
- Support the team in troubleshooting GIS-related challenges and ensuring the quality and accuracy of project deliverables.

Ideal Candidate

- Experienced GIS analyst and know how to use QGIS and able to bring leadership to the team
- Exposure to data, analytics, business intelligence, research, technology, or process improvement projects is considered an asset.
- Educational background or experience in data-related fields is beneficial but not required.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with nonprofit leaders and stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and Interested in community impact and nonprofit work.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
