Governance Specialist III
Asset Management Governance
Location: Toronto, ON – Station B
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Travel: Less than 5%
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Governance Specialist III to support the ongoing development, reporting, documentation, and continuous improvement of an Asset Management Program within a Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) environment.
This role will work closely with Asset Management & Governance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate governance activities, support assurance programs, maintain processes and documentation, track performance, and manage interdependencies across multiple initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong governance, asset management, documentation, stakeholder engagement, change management, and reporting skills with the ability to organize complex information and communicate effectively with both working teams and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and maintain the Asset Management Assurance Plan, including associated corrective and preventative actions.
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing sustainment of asset management assurance tools, processes, and procedures.
- Prepare and deliver clear status and progress reporting for working teams and senior management, including Quarterly Management Reviews.
- Draft and maintain processes, procedures, job aids, and supporting documentation to drive continuous improvement within Asset Management Governance.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Asset Management SharePoint site, including content and site permissions.
- Coordinate governance activities and interdependencies across concurrent initiatives.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to prioritize issues and facilitate practical solutions related to asset management and planning.
- Partner with Asset Management & Governance teams to develop key messages and polished communication materials.
- Support planning, facilitation,
and completion of business unit and Enterprise Asset Management maturity assessments and other assurance activities.
- Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and measurement of Asset Management metrics and KPIs.
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing support of new subject matter experts within the Asset Management ecosystem.
- Communicate technical and complex matters involving policies, procedures, and business practices to a variety of stakeholders.
- Develop, execute, and maintain fit-for-purpose change management and communication plans.
- Serve as the designated Management of Change (MOC) Coordinator for the Asset Management Program.
- Support Integrated Management System (IMS) and records administration activities.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, training sessions, and other stakeholder engagements as required.
- Consolidate planning information from multiple sources into clear reporting that supports alignment and senior-management decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Related university degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or 6+ years of field operations experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with document management, governance documentation, processes, and procedures.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and related Microsoft tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple teams and functions.
- Experience planning and facilitating meetings, workshops, and/or training sessions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience consolidating information from multiple sources into clear reports, presentations, or management-level views.
- Experience supporting changes to organizational processes, procedures, or business practices.
- Ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly to both operational and leadership audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous asset management experience.
- Experience within the energy, natural gas, utilities, engineering, project management, or business development environment.
- Understanding of utility operations and core business functions.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and utility financial management practices.
- Experience working directly with senior management and executive audiences.
- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint, including site maintenance and permissions.
- Knowledge of change management methodologies and experience supporting organizational change initiatives.
- Change management certification.
- Experience with assurance programs, maturity assessments, corrective/preventative actions, or Management of Change processes.

You should be able to take information from multiple teams, organize it into a transparent picture, identify what needs attention, and communicate it effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership.
This role is particularly well suited for someone who enjoys improving processes, maintaining strong governance practices, facilitating cross-functional work, and helping an organization continue to mature its Asset Management Program.
