Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and agricultural equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with commercial trucks and equipment, ability to work independently as well as with others, be motivated, and have a strong desire to put out quality work.

This is primarily a shop position where the candidate will often be performing larger repair jobs such as engine overhauls and other engine repairs, component rebuilds, clutch replacements and other jobs that are too involved or labour intensive to do mobile/in the field. Occasionally the candidate will help with mobile repairs when necessary.

Of utmost importance is the requirement for quality workmanship, attention to detail, integrity and the desire to do the job right, the first time. This cannot be stressed enough.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment and vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, air conditioning, CAN bus system issues using diagnostic tools, software etc.
- Inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, suspensions, and other vehicle components.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and other shop-related tasks as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- respect customer vehicles and equipment by returning them as clean or better condition then when dropped off.
- keep detailed log of repairs and labour hours for each work order.
- Communicate repair needs and equipment status to supervisor.





Qualifications These are definitely preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Wage depends on experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and air brake systems, etc.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, repair documentation, and use diagnostic tools and software programs.
- Valid driver's license, class 1 or 3 preferred.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and be physically fit, this can be a physically demanding job.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Red seal in a diesel mechanic trade an asset but not required.
- References required.

Working conditions
- majority of time will be spent in heated/air conditioned, well equipped shop.
- willingness to work outside in all weather conditions when emergency repairs are needed.
- May require overtime, weekends, and on-call availability on rare occasions, but this can be discussed.
- this is a full time permanent position but hours/schedule can be tailored to suit the candidates needs.
