Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at a locally-owned and operated waste management company based out of Kamloops, BC. The mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of vehicles and equipment, including garbage trucks, compactors, and other waste management machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and general mechanical maintenance.

Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues
- Conduct inspections and safety checks
- Keep accurate maintenance records
- Assist with equipment modifications and upgrades
- Communicate with drivers and other team members to address maintenance issues
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Solid technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus




- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

- Proven dealership or automotive repair experience
- Knowledge and experience operating, diagnosing, and repairing heavy duty machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
- Skilled in assembly, welding, electrical troubleshooting, and schematics interpretation
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic testing devices
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate technical information to clients or team members
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Full time Pay: $30.00-$62.78 per hour
