THE ROLE:

This is an on-call casual position with no regularly scheduled weekly shifts or guaranteed hours. The successful candidate will primarily be contacted when maintenance coverage is needed due to unexpected absences, operational needs, emergencies, or other short-notice situations. There may also be pre-scheduled Shifts to cover vacations, time Off, or Other planned absences within the maintenance department.

The successful candidate must be comfortable with this type of arrangement and have good availability and flexibility for last-minute call-ins.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

The duties and responsibilities for maintenance include, but are not limited to the following:

- Respond to maintenance call-ins when available, including some short-notice requests.
- Provide vacation and absence coverage for regular maintenance team members when required.
- Troubleshoot and complete general hotel/building maintenance repairs.
- Respond to guestroom and hotel operational maintenance issues.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and equipment checks
- Identify when an issue can be handled internally and when a specialized contractor is required.
- Work safely and independently while communicating effectively with hotel management and other departments.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

- Have practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems and general building repairs.
- Must be dependable and comfortable working independently when required.
- A natural tendency towards guest service and attention to detail
- Previous experience in hotel, commercial, residential, institutional or general building maintenance is strongly preferred





Who This Position May Suit This position may be particularly well suited to someone who already has substantial maintenance or trades experience and is looking for occasional, flexible work without committing to a regular full-time or part-time schedule. If you have strong building maintenance knowledge, adaptable availability and are interested in providing reliable on-call support to our engineering team, we would be interested in hearing from you.
