Hero Home Care
North Vancouver
Manager, People & Culture
Our Heroic Story
What began with a personal search for better care revealed a simple truth. How you age changes everything. Families needed more than support. They needed care that felt human, consistent, and worthy of trust. That belief became the foundation of Hero Home Care and a commitment to transform how care is delivered for a better aging journey.
Since then, Hero Home Care has been trusted by more than 3,000 families and has delivered over 1,000,000 hours of in-home care across its communities. Each hour represents more than service. It represents trust, relationships, and the privilege of being part of someone’s life.
At its core, Hero Home Care believes home care is about more than just care. It is about helping people stay connected, supported, and living the life they love, with a focus on helping people live more Moments That Matter™ each and every day.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are looking for an energetic, hands-on People & Culture Manager who loves elevating great teams to perform their best, improving employee’s experience at work, working through detailed process maps to find efficiencies and deliver better outcomes and getting into the details required to make strong people systems work.
This important role will improve caregiver and employee retention, improve employee education and engagement and create new opportunities for Hero Home Care employees to thrive and grow.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit above the work and delegate it. You will work side by side with our leadership team and our recruiting and onboarding team, helping solve real-time People & Culture challenges while building stronger, more scalable systems for the future.
You bring strong working knowledge of BC Employment Standards and understand the realities of supporting both casual and full-time employees in a fast-paced, service-driven business. You are the combination of a thoughtful People & Culture professional and a hands-on builder. You know how to recruit, interview, onboard, support, coach, document, organize, improve, and follow through.
You have experience actively reviewing, enhancing and improving enterprise level employee recruitment and onboarding platforms, such as Dayforce.
You are comfortable working between Hero Home Care’s strategic vision and daily execution. One moment you may be reviewing employee NPS scores, then moving on to finessing an employment agreement or tightening an HR process, and the next you may be interviewing a candidate, helping a recruiter strengthen a hiring pipeline, supporting a manager through a people challenge, or improving an onboarding workflow. You naturally work across departments and with different leaders, taking time to understand what is actually happening before jumping to a solution.
You listen, ask good questions, and then act with clarity and purpose.
The ultimate outcome of your daily actions with our People and Culture team is delivering a ‘Best Place to Work’ award for Hero Home Care!
You are an in-person, in-office People & Culture leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial growth environment where priorities evolve and impact matters. You bring energy to the office, enjoy collaborating face to face, and are motivated by building something better rather than maintaining the status quo.
You are organized, solutions focused, curious, and willing to challenge old ways of doing things when a better solution exists. At your core, you are a problem solver who enjoys helping people succeed while creating the systems, accountability, and structure required for a growing organization.
A Day In The Life Of This Role:
This role is responsible for supporting and strengthening Hero Home Care’s People & Culture function across recruitment, employment practices, onboarding, employee development, HR systems, and day-to-day people support.
You will ensure employment agreements, policies, procedures, and People & Culture practices are aligned with BC Employment Standards and evolving regulatory requirements. You will help review, update, document, and implement policies and processes so they are clear, practical, compliant, and consistently followed across the organization.
You will be deeply involved in our recruitment function, working side by side with our recruiters to attract, vet, interview, and hire high-quality casual, part-time, and full-time employees in a highly competitive hiring environment.
You will help strengthen recruitment pipelines, working with schools and universities to identify and employ the best of the best from graduating classes, evolve candidate screening and interviewing, experiment with new recruiting strategies, and build relationships with schools, community organizations, and other talent sources.
You will help build and continuously improve recruiting, onboarding, employee development, and what we call “everboarding.” You will turn ideas into practical tools, workflows, templates, programs, and processes that managers and employees can actually use.
This role will also support the continued development of employee performance management systems, including role scorecards, employee reviews, manager tools, and clearer accountability across teams. You will work with leaders to ensure employees understand what success looks like, receive useful feedback, and have opportunities to continue growing.
You will help improve Hero’s HR technology and People & Culture workflows, identifying opportunities to automate repetitive work, reduce administrative friction, improve data accuracy, and create a stronger digital experience for both candidates and employees.
This role plays an important part in creating a scalable, accountable, high-energy People & Culture function that supports Hero Home Care’s continued growth.
What You Are Responsible For:
● Review employee NPS (eNPS) scores and build executable actions plans to improve Hero Home Care’s eNPS. You will be a significant driver of our goal to build Canada's most engaged, capable and empowered home care team, achieving an eNPS of 70+ from both Heroes and Hero Central team members, by creating an exceptional employee experience that attracts, develops, retains, and grows the Heroes and leaders required to achieve our vision.
● Work side by side with our recruiting team to improve our process for attracting, vetting, interviewing, and hiring exceptional casual, part time, and full-time employees in a competitive hiring environment.
● Apply British Columbia Employment Standards Act to update, organize, and implement employment agreements, HR policies, procedures, and documentation so they remain compliant, current, clear, and consistently followed.
● Develop new, creative and practical recruiting solutions, leveraging local schools and academies to hire the best graduates to strengthen candidate pipelines, improve hiring efficiency, and increase our ability to attract people who genuinely align with Hero Home Care’s values and culture. Working with our recruiters and leadership team to build stronger relationships with schools, community organizations, training programs, and other sources of great caregiver and office talent.
● Create and continuously improve candidate screening, interviewing, reference checking, hiring, and documentation processes so we can hire without creating unnecessary complexity.
● Elevate Hero’s onboarding, training and “everboarding” experience by helping build branded, practical, easy-to-follow programs that support both new and existing employees.
● Develop and improve performance management tools, employee review processes, role scorecards, development plans, and other systems that strengthen accountability and employee growth.
● Support the evolution of Hero’s HR technology stack by improving workflows and helping optimize platforms including Indeed, Dayforce, and our corporate career site to create a better candidate and employee experience.
● Identify recurring People & Culture challenges and build practical systems and processes that address root causes rather than repeatedly solving the same problem.
You are joining us to roll up your sleeves, jump in, dig in and work side by side with our current People and Culture team to help build a stronger People & Culture function from the inside out.
We are building something special, and we can’t wait to meet the person who wants to help us make it even better.
