Job Title: HVAC Engineer – Marine Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning

On-site/ Remote/ Hybrid: Onsite

Location: North Vancouver, BC

Job Type: Full Time - Permanent

Salary: TBD

Summary:

We are seeking an HVAC Engineer (Marine HVAC systems) to support the design, analysis, and delivery of HVAC systems for complex marine projects. This role focuses on technical engineering execution, system design, calculations, and documentation support across shipbuilding and offshore environments. The position does not include formal management or team leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Engineering & Technical Design

- Develop and support HVAC system specifications, design deliverables, and technical documentation

- Perform and validate engineering calculations including:

- Heat load calculations

- Ventilation volume calculations

- Noise and vibration calculations

- Pressure drop calculations

- Support preparation and review of:

- HVAC D&IDs;, P&IDs;, and one-line diagrams

- Commissioning Test Memos

- Technical Purchase Specifications (TPS)

- Review and authenticate HVAC deliverables

Systems Integration & Engineering Support

- Support integration of HVAC systems within accommodation and technical spaces using 3D design tools

- Assist in review of Vendor Furnished Information (VFI) for technical compliance and integration

- Support review of chiller and heating plant calculations

- Ensure compliance with client specifications and applicable marine classification and regulatory standards

Project & Technical Coordination

- Support project engineering activities including progress tracking and technical reporting

- Assist in coordination with shipyards, suppliers, and classification societies

- Support construction, installation, and commissioning activities from an engineering perspective





- Provide technical input for equipment selection in collaboration with project teams and vendors

Regulatory & Industry Knowledge

- Apply marine regulations and standards, including but not limited to:

- SOLAS

- Lloyd’s Register (LR)

- Other applicable class and flag-state requirements

Requirements:

- Candidates must hold a P.Eng. designation and qualified to review and approved HVAC design deliverables

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (required)

- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)

- 2–5 years’ experience in HVAC engineering within marine or industrial environments such as:

- Shipyards

- Cruise vessels

- Naval / Coast Guard projects

- Offshore Oil & Gas or large-scale industrial projects

- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)

- Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills

- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Proficiency with engineering tools such as:

- Cadmatic HVAC

- HVAC load calculation software

- AutoCAD

- Experience with technical documentation (TPS and VFI review) is an asset

- Willingness to travel internationally as required
