We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and motivated Irrigation Landscaper / Farm Hand to join our team! If you have a green thumb, a knack for irrigation and landscaping, and want to experience farm life without the long commute out of town, this is the perfect prospect for you.
We are a family-owned, plant-focused operation (no livestock) located right here in the city, and we are building from the ground up! This unique role is multi-site in nature; you will travel between our properties, adapting to different tasks and environments as we expand our vision.
Position Details
- Location: North Nanaimo, BC
- Pay: $25–$30/hr, depending on experience
- Employment Type: Full time 40 hours per week
- Perks: Benefits package available after 6 months of employment
- Start Date: As soon as possible
Key Responsibilities
- Irrigation & Water Management: Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure optimal water delivery to crops and plants.
- Landscaping & Plant Care: Weeding, watering, and promoting overall crop and plant health.
- Property Maintenance: Mowing fields to maintain healthy land, cleaning gutters, and power washing equipment, buildings, and surfaces.
- Farm Infrastructure: Fixing and maintaining fences for security, and completing small repair/carpentry projects around the farm.
- Special Projects: Pond and family camp area maintenance,
plus barn clean-up and organization.
- Equipment Operation: Operating farm equipment safely (or showing a strong willingness to learn).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Background or strong experience in landscaping, irrigation systems, or horticulture.
- Comfortable and knowledgeable with power tools.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (required for multi-site travel).
- Physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and demanding physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills—someone who thinks before acting and prioritizes safety.
- Excellent time management and the ability to work independently or follow direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous farm experience is a huge plus!
- Background in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or a related technical field.
- Drive to learn and understand the farm's plant-based vision and goals.
