OVERVIEW The role of Live Quail Production Operations personnel is to carry out all activities at Spring Creek Quail Farms related to caring for baby quail after coming from the hatchery up until they are caught and shipped at maturity.
To be successful in this position it is important to be results oriented while continuously improving the capabilities and outcomes of growing quail. This is a ‘backbone’ role within Spring Creek Quail Farms.
Reports to: Live Quail Operations Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES The daily responsibilities and duties of the Live Quail Production Operations are:
Daily Barn check for ventilation, lighting, water & feed
Flock mortality checks
Bird moving and replacement
Running Manure belts
Barn cleaning & setup
Catching quail
Other responsibilities and duties of the Live Quail Production Operations are as required and may include:
Documentation, record keeping
Maintenance of feed systems, ventilation systems
Pest control
MEASURES OF SUCCESS The Key Performance indicators for the Live Quail Production personnel are:
Flock Efficiency %
Cleaning and setup inspection ‘passes’
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES To have success in this role these qualifications and abilities are required:
Practical knowledge of poultry husbandry
Ability to drive heavy equipment including trucks, skid steer and telehandler
Hands-on experience in live production, barn operations, farm work, or production operations
Experience maintaining daily flock and mortality logs, cleaning and setup records, feed or water checks, or equipment inspection logs
Experience with barn systems and farm equipment, including feed lines, ventilation, and water systems
Knowledge of biosecurity, sanitation, and animal welfare practices in live production operations
Advantages
$18.00-$20.00 per hour based on experience
40-50 hours per week
