We are seeking an experienced and dependable Long Haul Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves operating commercial vehicles over long distances to deliver freight efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, knowledge of heavy equipment operation, and a commitment to safety and customer service. This position offers an chance to work on diverse routes while maintaining a focus on timely deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
Duties
- Safely operate large commercial trucks over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight across regional or national destinations, ensuring timely delivery of goods
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and delivery documentation
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during transit
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, or freight transportation preferred
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently for extended periods during long-haul routes
- Physical capability to load/unload freight and perform vehicle inspections as required
- Prior experience with freight handling is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided as needed
