We are seeking a dedicated Manager - Cross Border Tax to join our tax practice in Vancouver or Toronto. This is an evergreen role for an individual committed to a career in taxation who desires a lead role in managing tax engagements and contributing to the growth of both the firm and its clients.
As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Partners to deliver high-quality tax advisory and compliance services to clients requiring both US and Canadian filings.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement Management: Coordinate tax planning and compliance services for individuals requiring US and Canadian income or estate tax filings.
- Advisory & Compliance: Work with Senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision, and tax advisory engagements.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the risk and financial performance of engagements, including project budgets, billing, and collections.
- Agency Correspondence: Review assessments and correspond with the IRS, state authorities, and CRA on various issues.
- Leadership: Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential while identifying client service opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Designation: US or Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is required.
- Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a cross-border tax capacity in a public practice firm.
- Education: Completion or active pursuit of the In-Depth Tax Program or Masters of Tax.
- Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the Canada-US Tax Treaty.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CaseWare, Tax Prep, TaxFind, CCH IntelliConnect, and Microsoft Office.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload with multiple deadlines.
Compensation & Perks
- Salary Range: $85,000 – $120,000 per year.
