About the Opportunity micro1 is engaging experienced Mechanical Engineers to contribute to a customer project focused on developing and improving advanced AI systems for engineering applications.

In this role, you will apply practical mechanical engineering expertise to 3D CAD modeling, technical drawing interpretation, engineering documentation, tolerancing, and conceptual stress analysis/FEA. Your work will help train and validate AI systems by providing accurate, real-world engineering input and expert feedback.

No prior AI experience is required. Your mechanical engineering knowledge, design experience, technical judgment, and attention to detail are what matter most.

Responsibilities

- Create detailed 3D CAD models of simple mechanical components using platforms such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA.
- Interpret technical drawings and accurately identify critical dimensions, tolerances, specifications, and design requirements.
- Produce and document component requirements, engineering specifications, and manufacturing tolerances in clear and structured formats.
- Apply conceptual knowledge of stress analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to review engineering tasks and support model validation.
- Review CAD models, technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
- Identify inconsistencies, missing requirements, dimensional issues, or documentation gaps in engineering outputs.
- Critique and improve AI-generated CAD and technical engineering outputs based on established engineering principles.
- Provide clear written and verbal feedback to support AI model training and evaluation.




- Apply real-world mechanical design judgment when reviewing engineering scenarios and proposed solutions.
- Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams through remote communication and project-management tools.
- Maintain consistent quality and attention to detail across all assigned engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications

- Hands-on experience in mechanical design engineering or a closely related mechanical engineering role.
- Strong practical knowledge of 3D CAD modeling for mechanical components.
- Proficiency in at least one of SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or CATIA.
- Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and engineering specifications.
- Conceptual understanding of stress analysis and FEA principles.
- Experience producing or reviewing technical engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design requirements and manufacturing tolerances.
- Ability to identify technical inconsistencies and evaluate whether engineering outputs are reasonable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design engineering, particularly 3D CAD modeling and engineering analysis.
- Experience using multiple CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, NX, Creo, and CATIA.
- Proven experience creating and interpreting comprehensive mechanical engineering drawings.




- Strong understanding of stress analysis, FEA concepts, and engineering validation processes.
- Experience working as a design engineer responsible for component modeling, drawing interpretation, and requirements definition.
- Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and conceptual design through validation and documentation.
- Experience reviewing engineering work products for accuracy, manufacturability, and design intent.
- Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
