Job Overview

Cambridge International Academy is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Part-Time IELTS Teacher / Math Tutor to provide after-school academic support to our students.

This position combines IELTS preparation and Ontario high school Mathematics tutoring for Grades 9–12. The successful candidate should be comfortable supporting students with different academic abilities and helping them strengthen both their English-language skills and mathematical understanding.

The position generally operates between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The successful candidate may not be required to work every day. Actual teaching hours and days will depend on student enrollment, academic needs, and tutoring requirements.

Responsibilities

- Provide individual and small-group IELTS instruction and preparation.
- Support students in developing IELTS reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
- Help students understand IELTS assessment expectations and develop effective test-taking strategies.




- Provide tutoring and academic support for Ontario secondary school Mathematics from Grades 9–12.
- Support students with course concepts, homework, assignments, test preparation, and exam review.
- Identify students' areas of difficulty and provide targeted instruction and practice.
- Explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt teaching strategies to different student learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Communicate student progress and areas of concern to school administration when appropriate.
- Prepare appropriate instructional materials and practice activities.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to support students' academic goals.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or post-secondary education in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field is preferred.
- Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is required.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Mathematics curriculum and expectations for Grades 9–12.
- Ability to tutor a range of Ontario high school Mathematics courses.
- Familiarity with IELTS examination structure, expectations, and preparation strategies.




- Previous experience teaching IELTS, Mathematics, tutoring, or working with secondary school students is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain challenging concepts clearly and patiently.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently with students or small groups.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is an asset but is not required.

Schedule and Availability Candidates should generally be available between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

This is a student-needs-based part-time position. The successful candidate may not be scheduled every weekday, and weekly hours may vary depending on student enrollment and tutoring requirements.
