Supply Childcare Educator

We are looking for reliable, energetic Supply Educators to join our team and provide coverage when our regular educators are away or additional support is needed.

Availability is important for this role.

This is a casual/on-call supply position, and applicants must have weekday availability Monday–Friday during our operating hours of 7:30 AM–5:30 PM.

Supply shifts may be offered in advance or on shorter notice due to staff illness, vacation or changing centre needs. Applicants must have enough flexibility in their schedule to regularly accept supply shifts when offered. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on the needs of the centre.

About the Role

Our educators are first and foremost responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for the children in our care.

As a Supply Educator, you will work alongside our permanent team, moving between classrooms as needed and supporting children throughout their day. We are looking for someone who can confidently step into a classroom, connect with children and educators, follow established routines and contribute positively to the day.

Having fun, laughing, playing and getting messy are all part of the job at Kids Ko!

Responsibilities

- Maintain a safe, healthy and engaging environment for children.
- Follow all Kids Ko policies and procedures and requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
- Support and engage children through play and age-appropriate experiences.
- Assist with daily routines including meals, snacks, dressing, toileting and transitions.
- Participate in outdoor play and active experiences.
- Model positive and respectful adult-child interactions.
- Support classroom routines, organization and cleaning expectations.




- Communicate positively and professionally with children, families and fellow educators.
- Work collaboratively with the Kids Ko team and take direction from classroom and centre leadership.
- Remain flexible and able to move between classrooms depending on the needs of the centre.
- Approach challenges with a positive, solution-focused mindset.

What We're Looking For You are someone who is:
- Reliable and able to regularly accept supply shifts.
- Warm, patient and genuinely enjoys working with children.
- Flexible and comfortable working with different age groups and educators.
- A strong communicator and team player.
- Able to adapt quickly to classroom routines and changing needs.
- Responsible, observant and attentive to children's safety.
- Comfortable with an active workday that includes standing, walking, bending, getting down on the floor and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, early learning, camp or similar environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of the CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen? is an asset.
- ECE diploma and registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators is a strong asset but not required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C required.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Required health/immunization documentation must be provided in accordance with current childcare and public health requirements.
