Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst to manage and optimize our payroll processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in payroll systems, accounting software, and human resources technology platforms. As a Payroll Analyst, you will ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance with regulations, and seamless data management across various financial and HR systems.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for Union, Non Union hourly and salaried employees
- Ensure all data files are complete and approved for transmission to payroll service provider.
- Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets and other input documents.
- Track and enter all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
- Ensure that all salaries/wages are paid accurately and in accordance with regulations in a timely manner.
- Preparation of GL journal entries; translation of payroll data into meaningful finance/management reports.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure payroll and other personnel records are accurate and up to date.
- Assist in the preparation of year end reports and filing of all annual returns with federal/provincial governments.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met. Maintain employee records confidential.
- Work with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, and prioritize tasks, ensuring all-important deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive, hands-on payroll experience - payroll reconciliations and audit support.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now a must, proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with Sage Intact would be an asset.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities.
- High degree of accuracy, discretion and respect for confidential employee and business information.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to meet non-negotiable weekly deadlines.
- Calm, adaptable and solutions-oriented approach in a rapid-paced environment with competing demands.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team setting, we need a dedicated team player.
