About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a gentleman currently residing at Haliburton Hospital while awaiting long-term care placement. He has experienced significant physical decline recently and requires support with daily activities. He uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility and needs assistance with personal care, including toileting and oral hygiene.

He also requires full meal preparation and feeding support, along with memory prompts and gentle redirection for cognitive support. The family believes a male caregiver would be the best fit, and companionship is a key priority as the client faces increasing isolation, especially with winter approaching.

Responsibilities:

- Provide warm, engaging companionship and social interaction
- Assist with mobility support using walker or wheelchair
- Help with toileting and personal hygiene, including oral care
- Prepare and assist with feeding during meals
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
- Monitor and report any changes in physical or mental condition to family
- Maintain a calm, patient presence that helps the client feel comfortable and protected

What We're Looking For:

- Male caregiver preferred
- Experience supporting clients who use mobility aids
- Comfortable providing personal care and toileting assistance
- Skilled in meal preparation and feeding support
- Patient and experienced with cognitive support and memory care
- Excellent communication skills with family members
- Reliable, consistent, and takes initiative when needed

- English-speaking

This is the family's first time arranging professional care, and they're looking for someone who can serve as their eyes and ears at the hospital. The ideal caregiver will provide detailed updates about the client's condition and any changes they observe. The family values clear communication, reliability, and someone who can help their loved one feel less isolated during this challenging transition period.

Schedule:

A few visits each week, approximately 2-3 times weekly for 2-3 hours per visit. Schedule is flexible and can be adjusted based on caregiver availability and family needs. Visits will take place at Haliburton Hospital.

Pay & Hours

CAD$27.00/hr
