Company Overview
SKA Thermal Spa is Calgary's premier urban thermal spa experience — a sanctuary where heat, cold, and contrast therapy come together to deliver deep physical recovery, mental reset, and genuine wellbeing. Inspired by the Scandinavian tradition of thermal bathing, SKA offers a curated circuit of saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, and relaxation spaces. We are part of a growing multi-brand wellness portfolio (SKA Thermal Spa, Leela Eco Spa, Leela Thermal House, and Leela Longevity & Wellbeing) headquartered in Calgary, with new locations in development across Canada and the United States.
About the Role
Based at our Calgary head office, the Project Coordinator supports the design, permitting, and construction of new spa locations across Canada and the US, as well as ongoing improvements to existing sites. You will be the day-to-day link between our leadership team, architects and engineering consultants, general contractors, and municipal authorities in multiple jurisdictions. This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, comfortable with technical drawings, and knows how to keep a permit application or a trade schedule moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track building permit, development permit, and occupancy applications with municipal authorities across Canadian and US jurisdictions; respond to reviewer comments and coordinate resubmissions
- Liaise with mechanical, electrical, structural, and plumbing engineering consultants and architects to resolve design questions, coordinate drawings, and manage submittals and RFIs
- Manage day-to-day project execution: schedules, milestones, budgets, change orders, and deficiency lists across multiple concurrent sites
- Coordinate general contractors, trades, and vendors (including specialty sauna, pool, and thermal equipment suppliers) to keep work on time and on spec
- Organize and document site meetings, action items, inspections, and progress reports for leadership
- Support miscellaneous construction and facilities work — landlord coordination, equipment procurement, code and inspection compliance, and turnover to operations
- Maintain organized project records, drawings, and approvals for every site
Qualifications
- 2+ years in construction coordination, project coordination, or a related role (commercial fit-outs, hospitality, or wellness facilities an asset)
- Working knowledge of municipal building permit processes and building codes; experience navigating multiple Canadian provinces or US jurisdictions is a robust asset
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
- Proficiency with project management and document tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Google Workspace)
- Strong communication skills — comfortable dealing with engineers, contractors, city reviewers, and landlords remotely and in person
- Willingness to travel to project sites across Canada and the US as needed
- Diploma or degree in construction management, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field preferred
