Role Description The Public Affairs & Advocacy Lead – Volunteer is a part-time, remote role responsible for guiding ALL’s public affairs and advocacy efforts. This role involves developing and implementing advocacy strategies that promote accessibility and equity across Ontario, in collaboration with community partners and organizational leadership. Day-to-day tasks include drafting press releases, preparing advocacy briefs, coordinating media outreach, and supporting strategic communications across digital and traditional channels.

The Lead will help build and maintain relationships with media outlets, community organizations, and public officials,



while monitoring relevant policy developments and identifying opportunities for public engagement. The position also includes contributing to campaign messaging, supporting public education initiatives, and providing communication guidance to other volunteers and team members.

Qualifications

- Public Affairs and Public Relations skills to lead advocacy initiatives, engage stakeholders, and represent the organization in public forums.
- Strategic Communications and Media Relations skills to develop messaging, manage outreach, and coordinate engagement with journalists and media partners.
- Experience drafting Press Releases and other external communications, with strong writing and editing abilities.
- Knowledge of accessibility, equity, and community advocacy issues in Ontario or a strong interest in learning about these areas.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, volunteer-based team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to balance part-time volunteer responsibilities with other commitments.
- Prior experience in non-profit, advocacy, or community organizing is an asset, but committed and motivated candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
