About The Firm
Our client is a dynamic, rapidly expanding law firm with a growing real estate and lending practice. The firm is known for its forward-thinking approach, collaborative culture, supportive leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Position Overview The firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Lawyer based in Alberta to join their growing team in a fully remote capacity. This role involves managing a portfolio of both commercial and residential real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will possess 4+ years of post-call experience in Alberta real estate law, bringing strong analysis, and transactional execution skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Management: Independently manage residential and commercial real estate transactions from initial agreement review through to closing, registration, and post-closing reporting.
- Commercial Financing & Lending: Act for lenders, corporate borrowers, private lenders, and developers on commercial mortgage financing, secured lending packages, and re-financings.
- Document Review: Review, and negotiate agreements of purchase and sale, security documentation, GSAs, corporate resolutions, and conveyancing documents.
- Title & Corporate Due Diligence: Direct and review comprehensive title searches, off-title inquiries, corporate searches, and PPR filings; resolve title defects and manage title insurance requisitions.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, realtors, mortgage brokers,
lenders, and opposing counsel to ensure seamless transaction management.
- File & Team Supervision: Collaborate with and provide guidance to real estate law paralegals and assistants to maintain high accuracy and meet transactional deadlines.
Core Competencies
- Commercial & Residential Real Estate: Strong technical knowledge of Alberta land titles, property law, and real estate closing procedures across both asset types.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to identify legal and transactional risks early, negotiate solutions, and protect client interests effectively.
- Exceptional Communication: Clear, concise, and professional communication skills for managing client relationships, lender requirements, and negotiations.
- Remote Efficiency & Initiative: Highly self-motivated and organized, capable of managing a solid file volume independently in a remote setting.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
- Four plus years of post-call experience in Real Estate Law (combining both Commercial and Residential practice)
- Demonstrated experience handling purchase, sale, and financing files for residential homes, and commercial real estate
