Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate mature Registered Nurse (RN)(preferably someone retired from full-time work) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality patient care in our allergy clinic. Your expertise will ensure patients receive safe, effective, and personalized nursing services. Responsibilities
- Administer subcutaneous allergy immunotherapy injections according to physician orders and established clinic protocols.
- Verify patient identity, prescribed allergen extracts, dosage, and injection schedule before administration.
- Assess patients before injections and identify any relevant symptoms or contraindications.
- Monitor patients after injections for potential allergic reactions.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of systemic allergic reactions and respond promptly according to clinic emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of injections, doses, reactions, and patient observations.
- Maintain proper storage, handling, and inventory of allergy extracts and medical supplies.
- Educate patients regarding allergy injections, post-injection precautions, and when to report symptoms.
- Communicate with the physician/medical team regarding patient reactions, concerns,
or changes in treatment.
- Follow infection-control, workplace-safety, and medication-administration procedures.
- Assist with general clinic duties as needed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and skilled standards.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license/registration in good standing in the jurisdiction where the clinic operates.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Previous experience administering injections is required or strongly preferred.
- Experience in an allergy, immunology, family medicine, or outpatient medical clinic is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of medication administration and patient safety.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to allergic reactions and medical emergencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Comfortable working independently while following physician orders and clinic protocols.
