Are you a collaborative, solutions-oriented professional with a passion for sustainable infrastructure and asset management? The City Operations department is seeking a Renewal Planning Project Manager to join our Waste Services team!

In this role, you will lead the concept phase of building infrastructure and industrial solid waste processing equipment renewal projects. Reporting to the Lifecycle Supervisor, you will be key in connecting operational needs with long-term strategy, prioritizing renewal requirements, and bringing collaborators together to build consensus before project delivery. By evaluating condition assessments and integrating climate action into project planning, your work directly ensures the reliability and sustainability of Edmonton's essential infrastructure.

What will you do?

- Plan, program, and monitor the renewal portion of capital projects for the Waste Services building and process equipment asset portfolio
- Analyze asset condition assessments, operational performance data, and maintenance issues to identify and prioritize renewal scope
- Lead engagement with internal collaborators, operational teams, and consultants to capture project requirements, balance wants versus needs, and achieve buy-in
- Manage and coordinate condition assessments, energy audits, and operational performance evaluations, including contract administration for external consultants
- Develop project charters, business cases, scope documentation, cost estimates, and project schedules aligned with corporate strategy and climate action initiatives
- Maintain and update asset data to support annual infrastructure reporting and capital programming
- Coordinate across internal engineering, maintenance, and project management teams to ensure a unified approach to project quality and continuous improvement

- Completion of a four (4) year degree in a related field such as Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, Business, or Project Management, combined with a minimum of six (6)



years of directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design, or construction OR

Completion of a two (2) year diploma in a related field such as Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Project Management, or Trade Certification, combined with a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design, or construction

Assets:

- Registration or eligibility for designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with ASET
- Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or formal project management training
- Environmental/Enviso training and experience

- Experience with SAP

Skills required for success:

- Exceptional collaborative relationship-building skills to engage with diverse internal teams, operations staff, and external consultants
- Solid technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical subject matter to non-technical audiences clearly and achieve buy-in
- Ability to prioritize project scopes effectively, balancing constraints, operational priorities, and resource allocations
- Solid technical understanding of the lifecycle of facilities, building systems, industrial processing equipment, and engineering principles
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, diagrams and charts
- Experience with financial administration and Google Workspace applications

Conditions of Employment:

- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent); candidates must arrange their own vehicle and business auto insurance to be reimbursed for mileage according to City of Edmonton policy

Work Environment:

- Ability to physically navigate active industrial job sites, including walking long distances, navigating uneven terrain, climbing stairs and climbing ladders
- Applicants must have access to reliable transportation to travel to and from work locations, as public transit service is not available
- Note: This position ​may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement ​with ​the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52

Salary Range: $51.181 - $65.310 (Hourly); $106,865.930 - $136,367.280 (Annually)
