Job Summary

Barr Homes is seeking an experienced and versatile Construction Carpenter to join our team, primarily working on multi-residential and multi-rise construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in general construction carpentry, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced jobsite environment. Experience with multi-storey, concrete, or commercial-style construction is highly valued.

At times, the successful candidate may also be required to assist with residential new home construction, including framing, finish work, service work, and general construction activities.

This position requires strong knowledge of construction methods, the ability to read and interpret drawings, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and effectively as part of a larger construction team.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform a variety of carpentry and general construction duties on multi-residential and multi-storey projects.
- Complete rough carpentry, including framing, sheathing, blocking, backing, and miscellaneous structural woodwork.
- Perform forming and concrete-related carpentry, including construction and removal of forms, bulkheads, curbs, openings, and other concrete formwork as required.




- Install and construct walls, partitions, stairs, guards, blocking, and other structural and architectural components.
- Complete framing and carpentry associated with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building services.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings.
- Measure, cut, and install materials accurately using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Work safely around cranes, hoisting operations, concrete crews, mechanical trades, and other construction activities.
- Assist with material handling, site organization, site cleaning and general construction tasks as required.
- Support Barr Homes’ new home construction projects from time to time, including framing, exterior and interior carpentry, trim, doors, stairs, blocking, and other residential construction tasks.
- Assist with service, warranty, and deficiency work on new homes when required.
- Identify construction issues and communicate concerns to the Site Superintendent or Foreman.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain project schedules.
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable Ontario construction regulations.
- Perform other carpentry and general construction duties as required.

Skills & Qualifications

- Proven experience as a construction carpenter, preferably in multi-residential, commercial, multi-storey, or new home construction.




- Strong knowledge of rough carpentry, framing, formwork, and general construction methods.
- Experience with concrete forming and structural construction is an asset.
- Experience with residential new home construction is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings.
- Skilled in the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Ability to work safely and effectively at heights and on multi-level construction sites.
- Knowledge of Ontario construction practices and OHSA requirements.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a larger construction team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to perform construction duties, including lifting, climbing, standing, bending, and working for extended periods.
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, and other relevant safety training would be an asset.

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
