Position Overview
We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Health & Wellbeing team in a part-time 8-month contract position. As a School Nurse, you will be the heart of health services for our boarding community. You will provide clinical care, manage medications, and offer essential support for student physical and mental wellbeing.
You will work alongside a dedicated team of nurses and counsellors to ensure our students feel safe and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments and provide care for student illnesses and injuries within scope of practice.
- Administer medications as prescribed and support medication management.
- Provide initial support to students experiencing emotional distress and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Collaborate with residence staff and healthcare providers to support student wellbeing.
- Coordinate care in consultation with physicians, specialists, and public health authorities as appropriate.
Schedule
- 2–3 day and/or evening shifts per week (days 8am-4pm / evenings 3pm-8pm)
- 1 weekend per month (9am-5pm Saturday, 11am-5pm Sunday)
- On-call coverage for 1 weekend per month
- On-call schedule: Friday overnight (8pm-9am), Saturday overnight (5pm - 11am), Sunday overnight (5pm-9am)
Shifts may vary and are subject to change. Please note that because we operate within a school environment, there are typically no scheduled hours available during the summer months. What You Bring To The Team:
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is required
- Experience in adolescent health, school nursing or emergency care is highly valued
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated computer skills, with the ability to navigate Google Suite
- Experience collaborating with external health care professionals, and internal stakeholders
- Evidence of a patient centered approach
Compensation
$31.75 - $39.38 per hour (based on RPN or RN designation) with on-call pay of $15.00 per hour.
