We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Senior Microsoft 365 Systems Engineer – Exchange & Collaboration to support the design, administration, and ongoing modernization of enterprise Microsoft messaging and collaboration services for one of our Medical Technology partners.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our client is a global leader in science and technology, supporting critical business operations across a highly distributed global enterprise. As part of its ongoing investment in modernizing enterprise IT services, the organization is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 engineer with deep expertise in Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise messaging and collaboration services, with particular emphasis on Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role requiring someone who can troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365 issues, lead technical improvements and migrations, automate administration, and work across infrastructure, identity, networking, and cybersecurity teams. This is not an endpoint-focused position; depth in enterprise messaging and collaboration technologies is essential.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments.
- Provide advanced engineering support for Exchange architecture, mail flow, connectors, transport rules, mailbox management, security, and availability.
- Troubleshoot complex Exchange and email-related issues, including mail routing, authentication, connectivity, performance, and interoperability.
- Support Exchange migrations, upgrades, modernization initiatives, and the transition of legacy services to Microsoft 365.
- Design, administer, and support enterprise SharePoint Online environments, including sites, permissions, sharing, governance, and information architecture.
- Administer and support OneDrive for Business, including synchronization, sharing, permissions, storage, migration, and user-related issues.
- Support Microsoft Teams and its integration with Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Develop and maintain governance, lifecycle, retention, and access-management practices across Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
- Partner with cybersecurity and identity teams to implement appropriate security, compliance, authentication, and access controls.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID integrations, Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication, and Conditional Access as they relate to Microsoft 365 services.
- Use Microsoft Purview and related capabilities to support information governance, retention, data protection, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft 365 administration, reporting, and operational processes.
- Monitor service health, capacity,

performance, and usage across Microsoft 365 services and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead or support tenant-level configuration changes, migrations, platform upgrades, and service enhancements.
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and develop sustainable solutions for recurring service issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, identity, security, and application teams to resolve complex cross-platform issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration standards, operational procedures, and support documentation.
- Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology lifecycle initiatives.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours support when required.

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure or systems engineering experience, with significant experience supporting Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Exchange Online and enterprise Exchange environments.
- Strong experience supporting hybrid Exchange architectures, including mail flow, connectors, transport rules, migrations, security, and troubleshooting.
- Robust hands-on experience administering and supporting SharePoint Online in a large enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with OneDrive for Business, including permissions, sharing, synchronization, migration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of how Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams interact within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 at the tenant level in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID as they relate to Microsoft 365 identity and access.
- Experience with SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and modern Microsoft authentication.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for Microsoft 365 administration, automation, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, retention policies, information governance, and/or related Microsoft 365 compliance capabilities.
- Strong understanding of enterprise messaging, collaboration, identity, security, and data-governance concepts.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex Microsoft 365 issues across multiple integrated technologies.
- Experience supporting migrations, upgrades, consolidation,

or modernization of enterprise Microsoft collaboration environments.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across infrastructure, security, identity, and business teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting critical enterprise services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure, or Microsoft identity and security technologies.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 within a large, globally distributed enterprise.
- Experience with large-scale Exchange migrations or hybrid-to-cloud modernization initiatives.
- Experience with SharePoint and OneDrive migrations, tenant consolidation, or large-scale content-management initiatives.
- Experience with Microsoft Graph and automation of Microsoft 365 services.
- Experience with enterprise backup, recovery, archiving, or continuity solutions for Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks including NIST, ISO 27001, or SOX.
- Experience working within regulated healthcare, medical technology, life sciences, or similarly controlled environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale Microsoft 365 modernization and transformation initiatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a remote role supporting business-critical Microsoft messaging and collaboration services within a large, global enterprise environment. The position is based in the Pacific Time Zone, and candidates must be available to consistently work PST business hours.

The successful candidate will be expected to bring significant hands-on depth in Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive and serve as a senior technical resource for complex engineering, troubleshooting, modernization, and operational challenges.
