We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI / Business Intelligence Analyst to support the design and development of analytical data products, dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with complex datasets and translating data into actionable insights for business and executive stakeholders. This role combines business intelligence, data analysis, data modelling, visualization, requirements gathering, data quality, and analytical solution development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced Power BI solutions using complex datasets.
- Create interactive dashboards, reports, KPIs, and data visualizations that communicate insights effectively.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends and support predictive analytics and forecasting.
- Gather, understand, and document business and analytical requirements.
- Translate business requirements into effective analytical and BI solutions.
- Develop and share data models and analytical products.
- Integrate data from multiple sources and across different domains.
- Perform data analysis, data quality reviews, statistical analysis, and data mining.
- Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and advanced time intelligence in Power BI.
- Use SQL for data transformations, querying, and analytical processing.
- Capture business and technical metadata for analytical data products.
- Establish and report on KPIs, metrics, outcomes, and other performance indicators.
- Present data-driven findings and communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Combine quantitative and qualitative information to develop meaningful business insights.
- Identify and escalate issues and risks as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively within a multi-vendor and cross-functional setting.
Must Have Primary Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions.
- 5+ years of experience using Power BI visualization techniques and features for data storytelling.
- 5+ years of experience analyzing large and complex datasets for trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools.
- 5+ years of experience presenting and communicating data-driven insights to executives and business users within a government organization.
- 5+ years of experience understanding and developing requirements for analytical projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent education may be considered.
Nice To Have Secondary Skills
- 5+ years translating business requirements into end-to-end analytical and BI solutions.
- 5+ years combining raw data from a variety of data sources and across domains.
- 5+ years of client-facing experience explaining complex data principles.
- 5+ years developing complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and advanced time intelligence.
- 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience in large-scale environments.
- 5+ years preparing visualizations, dashboards, and analytical models.
- 3+ years of experience working with large government datasets.
Work Arrangement This position is primarily remote within Canada, with the possibility of up to 15% onsite meetings in Edmonton, Alberta.
Candidates must be able to work from within Canada.
Pay: $80.00-$90.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Winnipeg, MB R2C 0A3
