Diamulator Software
Calgary
Company Description Diamulator™ Software develops specialized software solutions for engineers and technologists in the industrial automation and process control industry, with a focus on valve sizing and selection. The directors bring a combined 60 years of experience in valve sizing calculations, selection, and specification, gained through work with engineering firms and valve manufacturers. They are active members of professional organizations such as A.S.E.T., I.S.A., and S.M.E., reflecting a strong commitment to industry standards and best practices.
The company’s software is designed to help engineering projects achieve greater accuracy, efficiency, and reliability in valve-related decisions.
Role Description This is a full time, on-site Senior Solo Freelancer C#/.NET Developer role based in Calgary, AB. We require a senior Solo Freelancer C#/.NET developer on a platform like Upwork or Toptal to translate and build a clean Windows desktop user interface with superior skill. NET Software Developer to migrate this logic out of Excel and build a high-performance, secure Windows desktop application.
The core calculation engine must execute multi-variable fluid and acoustic equations in under 5 milliseconds.
When applying please provide expected rate and three references.
- Core Architectural Requirements
A. The Secure Calculation Engine (The "Box")
All proprietary formulas, gas constants, and thermodynamic algorithms must be encapsulated inside a sealed C# class library (.dll).
- The math must be completely isolated from the User Interface (UI). The UI should only pass raw input parameters into the DLL and receive a structured data report back.
Intellectual Property (IP) Protection: The final compiled DLL must be fully optimized for aggressive code obfuscation (using tools like Babel.NET or Dotfuscator). The developer must ensure the class architecture prevents decompilation or reverse-engineering of the proprietary equations. B.
The Calculation Pods (Modular Design)
The core engine must be broken down into discrete, clean, object-oriented calculation methods (Pods):
1. Thermodynamic Pod: Calculates real-time process conditions and downstream process conditions ie temperature corrections ((Delta T)) using dynamic enthalpy/Joule-Thomson expansion loops.
2. Regime Classifier Pod: A 3-regime fluid dynamics module (Subsonic, Critical, and Hypercritical) that determines acoustic efficiency based on real-time kinetic vectors.
3. Acoustic Power Pod: Executes multi-source, non-linear logarithmic summation of seat ring noise and pipe expansion/outlet noise.
- Advanced Mechanical Warning Matrix: Evaluates downstream pipe transmission loss ((TL)), coincidence frequency resonance loops ((L_{G})), seat leakage acoustic penalties, and thermal quenching thresholds.
- Valve sizing Pods: which includes all required calculations to complete the final calculation in accordance with valve sizing standards.
C. The Frontend User Interface (UI)
- A clean, modern, and minimalist Windows desktop interface (built using WPF or WinForms/.NET 8).
- An inputs panel for process fluid data (Pressures, Flow Rates, Temperatures, Pipe Schedules, Material Classes).
· An outputs panel featuring an instantaneous results dashboard, automated visual safety warnings (Green/Yellow/Red alerts for Harmonics, Leakage, and Quenching risks), and a "Generate Specification PDF" button.
- Developer Requirements & Deliverables
- Source Code: Clean, documented, production-ready C# source code with zero memory leaks.
- Unit Testing & Validation:
The developer must implement a test suite. I will provide an Excel verification sheet with 10 complex process data cases. The compiled C# engine's numerical outputs must match my Excel outputs exactly, down to the verified decimal point.
- Security Deployment: Assistance setting up the obfuscation build pipeline and integrating a lightweight cloud-licensing API (e.g., Keygen.sh or Cryptolens).
The individual in this role will design, develop, and maintain C#/.NET applications that support valve sizing and selection workflows, translating complex engineering requirements into robust, user-friendly software features. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new modules, refactoring legacy code, optimizing performance, and ensuring high code quality through testing and documentation. As a solo developer, the person in this position will continuous input accuracy throughout the full development lifecycle, including architecture decisions, deployment, and possibly ongoing maintenance.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and general Programming principles.
- Hands-on experience with Software Development using C#/.NET ecosystem.
- Practical knowledge of .NET Core for building scalable, maintainable applications.
- Experience developing web applications using ASP.NET MVC.
- Ability to work independently as a solo developer, managing end-to-end development tasks.
- Experience or strong interest in industrial automation, process control, or engineering, heavy math-related software.
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows.
- Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to writing clean, well-documented code.
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
