Location: NVSSS Shelter (Knights Inn), Merritt, BC
Reports to: Shelter Manager
Wage: $29.50 per hour
NVSSS invites current employees to apply for the permanent part-time Shelter Team Lead position.
The Team Lead provides coverage across morning and evening shifts, supervises Shelter Support Workers and coordinates daily shelter operations. Responsibilities include assigning duties, supporting participants, responding to crises, making shift-level operational decisions, facilitating shift handovers, completing required documentation and ensuring compliance with NVSSS policies and safety procedures.s.
Applicants should have
- Relevant experience supporting people experiencing homelessness, mental-health challenges or substance use;
- Robust leadership, communication, conflict-resolution and decision-making skills;
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction and de-escalation practices; and
- Relevant human-services education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
