Holiday Hamper Foundation
Edmonton
Continuing a Tradition of Delivering Joy, One Post at a Time For more than 20 years, the Holiday Hamper Program has brought Edmonton together to help local families put food on the table during the holidays.
Social media plays an important role in making that possible. It helps us recruit Elves, engage donors and sponsors, share important updates, and show our community the impact they help create. It is, quite simply, our most-used and most important communication tool. That’s why we’re looking for a Social Media Manager who treats it that way.
We’re looking for someone to take ownership of our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn presence throughout the season. While this is a volunteer position, consistency and reliability are essential. If you’re creative, organized, comfortable with social media, and excited to use your skills to make a meaningful impact in our community, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Strategy & Planning — Work closely with the Marketing Committee Lead to develop our organic social media strategy, content calendar, and posting timeline.
- Content Creation — Create engaging, on-brand content using our existing photography, video, and messaging. Original content is also encouraged. Robust Canva skills are essential.
- Scheduling & Posting — Schedule and publish organic content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, keeping our presence consistent and timely.
- Daily Account Monitoring — Check our social accounts daily for comments, messages, mentions, and questions, responding and engaging with our community as needed.
- Community & Reputation Management — Help maintain a positive online presence, respond appropriately to feedback, and flag sensitive or complex issues to the Marketing Committee Lead.
- Brand Consistency — Ensure content aligns with our brand, voice, messaging, and overall marketing strategy.
What We’re Looking For
- Someone dependable who understands that daily monitoring and consistency are important parts of the role.
- An organized, confident communicator who can be trusted to represent the Holiday Hamper Program with minimal oversight.
- Strong Canva skills and experience managing organic social content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Good judgment, particularly when engaging with the public and responding on behalf of the organization.
- A genuine connection to our mission and belief that every family deserves food on the table over the holidays.
Time Commitment
This role requires approximately 3–5 hours per week, including quick daily check-ins to monitor and engage with our community, plus a few focused hours to plan, create, and schedule content.
Things get a little busier in December as families are assigned and around Delivery Day on December 19. It’s not a huge time commitment, but it is a consistent one. We’re counting on you to be present and engaged throughout the season because our community is counting on us.
