Industry: Structural Engineering / Infrastructure
Design Complex Structures. Take Technical Ownership. Build Infrastructure That Lasts.
We’re partnering confidentially with an established Canadian infrastructure organization seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer to take meaningful technical ownership of complex steel bridge and structural infrastructure projects, working from early engineering concepts through detailed design, fabrication, and construction.
You’ll combine hands-on structural engineering with technical leadership, collaborating closely with project teams, fabrication, clients, and other engineering professionals.
For an engineer who wants to remain technically engaged while expanding their influence and leadership, this offers a strong next step.
What You’ll Do
- Engineer and analyze steel bridge structures and related infrastructure systems
- Complete structural calculations, load analysis, stress assessments, and advanced structural modelling
- Review and take professional responsibility for engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Support projects through concept development, detailed engineering, fabrication, delivery, and construction
- Resolve technical challenges in collaboration with project management, drafting, fabrication, and field teams
- Participate in engineering reviews and QA/QC activities
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and engineering students
- Work directly with clients and project stakeholders on technical requirements, design modifications, approvals, and inspections
- Contribute to the development of improved structural solutions, connections, materials, and engineering methodologies
- Provide technical input into proposals, presentations, and other project-development activities
The underlying position carries substantial responsibility across bridge design, analysis, professional approvals, project delivery, technical mentoring and client interaction.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in at least three Canadian provinces
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience
- Strong background in structural steel design and analysis
- Experience designing bridges, transportation structures, or comparable complex steel structures
- Strong understanding of Canadian structural and bridge engineering codes
- Ability to review and take professional responsibility for structural engineering deliverables
- Experience with structural analysis and engineering design software
- Robust technical judgment and problem-solving capability
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, project, fabrication, construction, and client stakeholders
Highly Valued Experience
- Bridge engineering
- Modular or prefabricated bridge systems
- Structural steel fabrication
- Finite Element Analysis
- RISA, IDEA StatiCa,
or comparable structural-analysis platforms
- CSA and CISC standards
- Canadian bridge design standards
- AASHTO, AISC, Eurocode, or international structural standards
- Construction or field engineering exposure
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Client-facing technical responsibility
Who Will Thrive Here?
You’re a technically strong structural engineer who wants more than producing calculations in isolation. You understand how engineering decisions affect fabrication, constructability, cost, schedule, and field execution.
You’re comfortable taking professional responsibility for your work, challenging designs when necessary, working through complex technical problems, and helping less-experienced engineers develop.
Most importantly, you enjoy seeing engineering move beyond the model and drawing package into real structures being fabricated and built.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Work on technically challenging bridge and infrastructure projects
- Take significant ownership of structural design and engineering decisions
- Remain hands-on technically while developing leadership responsibilities
- Work closely with fabrication and project-delivery teams
- Mentor developing engineers
- Exposure to projects across multiple Canadian jurisdictions
- Long-term professional development and career growth
- Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
- Company pension program
Apply Today
If you’re a licensed structural engineer with strong steel and bridge/infrastructure experience and want greater technical ownership of the projects you deliver, we’d welcome a confidential conversation. All inquiries and applications will be handled discreetly.
