Position Overview Our client is a well-established organization specializing in structural steel and custom fabrication, seeking a skilled
Structural Engineer with strong expertise in steel connection design.
The role focuses on the design, review, approval, and engineering of structural steel connections for industrial and commercial projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, drafting, detailing, and fabrication teams to deliver safe, practical, code-compliant, and shop-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, review, and approve welded, bolted, shear, and moment steel connections.
Prepare, review, stamp, and seal engineering drawings and supporting calculations.
Ensure designs comply with Canadian engineering standards, applicable codes, and CWB welding requirements.
Review shop drawings, fabrication details, and 3D models for accuracy and constructability.
Collaborate with drafting, detailing, fabrication, and production teams to develop practical solutions.
Provide technical support for RFIs, site inquiries,
and field-related design clarifications.
Resolve engineering and fabrication challenges while maintaining safety, quality, and project requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
P.Eng designation in Manitoba or eligibility for immediate registration.
3–5+ years of structural engineering experience with direct steel connection design exposure.
Proven experience stamping and sealing engineering drawings and calculations.
Strong knowledge of steel connection design, fabrication practices, and constructability.
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD, or S-Frame.
Familiarity with Tekla, AutoCAD, shop drawings, and 3D fabrication models.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
