Job Overview
Supportive Roommate (Must be willing to move to person’s home)
The apartment is located just a few blocks from downtown, is a two bedroom/two-bathroom condo, with an underground parking stall for the roommate.
Neighborhood Bridges is a human rights organization that is committed to rebuilding a world where everyone is a valued citizen. Our work focusses on supporting people with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis' through trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and community development perspectives.
People who have hired Neighborhood Bridges have daily staff supports and at this time we are seeking someone who is interested in becoming a live-in supportive roommate. Roommates have a home, spend time together, and share expenses and chores. This role looks different than that of the daily staff and comes with its own exciting challenges and opportunities.
This person has been part of the Neighborhood Bridges community for over a decade.
He enjoys being active, playing video games, going for beers with his buddies, and exploring what the city has to offer.
He is really interested in finding meaningful employment and seeking the chance to make social connections and find a romantic partner.
The supports we provide are focussed on communication - as he uses modified American Sign Language, connecting with friends and family, support with paying rent every month, and overall support with mental health and maintaining wellness.
He enjoys scheduled alone time and currently has a couple hours a day to himself, as well as Saturday nights alone.
He is a true joy to live with and get to know. The current roommate has enjoyed her time living with him.
This would be an excellent opportunity for students who attend classes during the day and are wanting stability in their schedules!
Current Police Information Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check are required.
