PART-TIME TAEKWONDO INSTRUCTOR

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
Hours: Approximately 10–25 hours per week
Pay: $18.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
North Durham Taekwondo is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and caring Part time Taekwondo Instructor to help our students reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will teach and supervise students at different belt levels, support the lead instructor and serve as a positive role model both inside and outside the dojang.
Responsibilities
- Lead safe, engaging and age-appropriate Taekwondo classes for children, youth and adults.
- Teach fundamental and advanced Taekwondo techniques as directed by the lead instructor.
- Educate, motivate and coach students while monitoring their progress and identifying areas of excellence or concern.
- Manage classes of up to approximately 30 students while maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Enforce the dojang’s safety rules, policies and professional standards.
- Assist with planning and delivering camps, tournaments, belt promotion tests, field trips, birthday events and other activities.
- Coach or assist students and staff at tournaments and special events when required.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, programs and upcoming activities.
- Assist with trial lessons, appointment bookings,
membership inquiries and general administrative or facility duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 2nd Dan Taekwondo black belt or higher with a valid Kukkiwon certificate.
- Substantial previous martial-arts experience.
- Approximately five years of Taekwondo experience is preferred.
- Approximately two years of teaching or coaching experience is preferred.
- Comfortable teaching students of different ages and abilities in both small and large groups.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization and decision-making skills.
- Patient, caring and professional, with a genuine interest in helping students develop.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or the willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
- Must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Schedule
- Four- to six-hour shifts.
- Monday to Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Weekends between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., or as needed.
- Additional availability may be required for tournaments, camps, promotion tests, birthday events and other special activities.
