Job Summary
Join our energetic team as a Tax Preparer Intern and gain hands-on experience in the world of financial services and tax preparation. In this paid internship, you will support our tax professionals by assisting with data collection, document organization, and preliminary analysis of financial information. Duties
- Assist with gathering and organizing client financial documents, including receipts, statements, and invoices
- Support the preparation of basic tax returns under supervision, ensuring compliance with current regulations
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other bookkeeping tools to input data accurately
- Conduct preliminary analysis of financial information to identify discrepancies or potential issues
- Help with account reconciliation tasks to ensure accuracy across various accounts
- Support auditing processes by reviewing transaction records and verifying data integrity
- Contribute to maintaining organized records of client files, reports, and correspondence related to tax preparation activities
Experience
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; prior coursework in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms is a plus
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to review financial data critically and identify inconsistencies
- Basic understanding of financial services concepts including accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, and investment fundamentals
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within a team environment
- Prior internship or work experience in accounting or bookkeeping is advantageous but not required
