The Department of Accounting and Business Analytics in the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position in Accounting. Up to 2 appointments may be filled. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027.

For an appointment at the Assistant Professor level, candidates must have, or be close to completing, a PhD in an Accounting field, with demonstrated potential to publish top-level research and achieve teaching excellence; appointment in the latter case will be contingent upon the completion of the PhD by an agreed-upon date. Appointments at a more senior level (Associate or Full Professor) may be considered depending on qualifications and experience. For an associate/full professor appointment, we require a reputation for making high quality contributions to top accounting journals and evidence of teaching excellence.

Responsibilities

- Teach accounting courses in undergraduate and graduate programs
- Conducting and publishing research in top tier accounting journals
- Service to the School’s academic activities
- Play an active role in success and development in PhD program

Qualifications

- Candidates must have, or be close to completing, a PhD in an Accounting field.
- Must demonstrate potential to publish top-level research and achieve teaching excellence.
- Must possess an excellent record or strong potential for publication in top (FT) Accounting journals.
- Should have empirical capability to conduct Archival or Behavioral research.
- Must provide evidence of teaching excellence.
- Consideration will be given to applicants who:
- Have demonstrated the impact of their research.
- Show established teaching skills.
- Have a record of service at the departmental, institutional, national, and/or international levels.

- Candidates must have a proven track record of—or interest in—institution building and service, in addition to exceptional scholarship in Accounting.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- A CPA certificate or general managerial experience will be considered an asset.
