Position Overview The Antigonish Review, a premier Canadian literary journal housed at St. Francis Xavier University, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate student intern to join our editorial team. Published by St. Francis Xavier University, The Antigonish Review features outstanding poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction by emerging and established writers.

This part-time internship offers an opportunity for an undergraduate student to gain hands-on experience in literary publishing, editorial work, digital communications, and arts administration while contributing to the ongoing work of a nationally recognized literary journal.

Position Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Managing Editor, Dr. Kailin Wright, the intern will:

- Manage and maintain The Antigonish Review’s social media accounts.
- Develop engaging social media content promoting new journal issues, contributors, events, and other journal activities.
- Assist with creating digital content that highlights the journal’s poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction.
- Work with the journal’s online submissions portal, including assisting with the organization and administration of submissions.
- Assist with the preparation and mailing of each issue of the journal.
- Support the editorial team with additional administrative and publishing-related tasks as required.
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Editor and other members of the journal team.




- Work will be done in-person at the StFX campus and remotely.

Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate will:

- Be an undergraduate student at St. Francis Xavier University, preferably majoring in English or a related humanities discipline.
- Have a strong interest in writing, editing, literature, and/or literary publishing.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a strong academic standing with a B+ (78%), or higher, grade average.
- Demonstrate robust attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Have a strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative.
- Be able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
- Have an interest in social media and digital communications.
- Be comfortable learning new online platforms, software, and excel spreadsheets.
- Previous experience with social media management, excel spreadsheets, and/or an interest in Canadian literature are assets but are not required.

The intern will work closely with the Managing Editor and gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a literary journal, from submissions and editorial processes to the publication and promotion of new issues.
