Cleaning Supervisor: McKnight Custodial Cleaning, Canmore, Alberta Permanent Employment, Full Time Hours: Early morning, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift $26.44/30 hours per week Starts as soon as possible 2 vacancies Language: English Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years Position Summary: The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of cleaning staff across assigned work sites. This position provides hands-on leadership, establishes work schedules and assignments, trains employees, monitors quality and safety standards, and assists with cleaning duties when required. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently while leading a team in a variety of commercial and industrial environments. Responsibilities: - Hire cleaning staff and provide or arrange employee training. - Supervise, coordinate, and support the daily activities of cleaning staff. - Establish work schedules, assign duties, and coordinate staffing based on operational requirements. - Provide clear direction to employees and ensure assigned work is completed efficiently and to established standards. - Train employees on cleaning procedures, equipment use, workplace expectations, and safe work practices. - Inspect work sites and facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness, quality, and safety standards are maintained. - Identify quality concerns and ensure deficiencies are addressed promptly. - Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and additional training where required.
- Assist cleaning staff with duties during busy periods or when additional support is required. Coordinate work activities with clients, contractors, other departments, and team members. Respond professionally and promptly to client concerns, service requests, and complaints. - Monitor cleaning products, equipment, and supplies and communicate inventory requirements. - Prepare budgets and cost estimates for cleaning services and projects as required. - Recommend or arrange additional services such as painting, repairs, renovations, or replacement of furnishings and equipment when required. - Receive and process payment for specialized cleaning jobs when applicable. - Identify and report maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, safety hazards, or other deficiencies. - Ensure employees follow safety policies, procedures, and applicable workplace health and safety requirements. - Ensure appropriate PPE, cleaning products, tools, and equipment are used correctly. - Complete inspection reports, work records, incident documentation, and other required paperwork. - Perform cleaning duties and operate commercial cleaning equipment when required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements: - Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. - 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant cleaning, janitorial, custodial,
or supervisory experience preferred - Previous experience supervising, training, or coordinating cleaning staff is an asset. - Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, products, tools, and equipment. - Robust attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. - Ability to supervise employees while also working independently with minimal supervision. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Ability to establish priorities and coordinate multiple work assignments. - Good judgment and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to respond professionally to client concerns and service requests. - High level of reliability, integrity, and accountability. - Strong commitment to workplace health and safety. - Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting cleaning supplies or equipment. - Ability to travel between work sites as required. - Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check if required.
