- Degree $34.509 to $42.199 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: As a member of the Adult services team and under the general direction of the Manager the primary goal will be to assess, counsel and develop comprehensive recovery and case management plans which will restore, maintain or enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues.

Responsibilities will include the provision of best practice methodology to assess & screen clients, and to provide individual & group counseling.

The position will be expected to provide educational sessions and group therapy in the Day Treatment Program as required.

"Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Experience Experience with group therapy and addiction assessments and interventions.

Education Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)



A degree acceptable by the employer with relevant experience Bachelor of Chemical Dependency Other Education and Training Bachelor of Social Work is acceptable Competencies Communication skills Interpersonal skills Organizational skills Decision making skills Counseling skills Problem solving skills Computer skills Knowledge and Abilities Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients.

Ability to promote healthy lifestyles with diverse populations Ability to develop appropriate recovery plans Knowledge in various mental health disorders and stability interventions Empathy and respect necessary to engage and develop rapport Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.

Knowledge in applicable policies, procedures and standards Knowledge with treating substance and/or substance dependence & the effects Ability to provide individual, group and crisis management counselling skills Ability to work independently Ability to accurately assess addictions and/or addiction related issues.

Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies Knowledge and ability to monitor withdrawal symptoms related to substance use.

Knowledge in group dynamics Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change Knowledge of therapeutic tools such as Motivational Interviewing and CBT.

Knowledge in individual, family, group, and crisis counselling methods Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to prioritize Ability to triage cases Other Information Clinical experience is preferred.
