Department: Central Ambulance Communications CentreInitial competition is now closed.We are continuing to accept applications until candidate is selected.The North Bay Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC), part of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, handles approximately 36,000 calls each year using advanced computer-aided dispatch, radio, and telephone systems. It provides 24/7 emergency medical communications for the Districts of Nipissing, Parry Sound, and Temiskaming, while also dispatching six Emergency First Response teams and offering paging services for 20 fire departments. In addition, CACC serves as the backup Fire/911 communications centre for one community.QUALIFICATIONSCertification/Experience/Knowledge:Qualifications as per the North Bay Central Ambulance Communication Centre Performance Agreement required:Must be 18 years of age or olderMust hold (OSSGD) Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalentMust be able to read, write and speak English language fluentlyBe a holder of a valid standard first aid certificate issued by a training institute approved by the Workplace Safety and Insurance BoardBe a holder of a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate to the level as may be required by the Province, and be re-certified in CPR every twenty-four (24) months thereafterSuccessful completion of a Ministry of Health approved Ambulance Communications Course (Entry to Practice Training); requiredAmbulance Communications Officer (ACO) experience requiredCollege 911 Communications Course requiredSkills/Abilities:Strong organizational skills requiredExcellent communication skills,



both verbal and written requiredExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health team requiredDemonstrated computer keyboarding proficiency (40 wpm/90% accuracy) requiredAbility to work with minimal supervision requiredMedical terminology is an assetGood attendance and work record requiredMust demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers and visitorsMust support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organizationJob offer conditional upon successful completion of Criticaldispatcher testingBilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
